For the July 28th meeting, we are reading Dandelion by Jamie Chai Yun Liew. When Lily was eleven years old, her mother, Swee Hua, walked away from the family, never to be seen or heard from again. Now, as a new mother herself, Lily becomes obsessed with finding out what happened to Swee Hua. Learn what happens with her search. Available as an ebook and an eaudiobook on Libby and in print.
For the August 25th meeting, we are reading Hotline by Dimitri Nasrallah. The story of Muna, a new immigrant from Lebanon, who arrives in Montreal, thinking she can get a job as a French teacher. Unfortunately, her credentials aren't recognized and she's forced to work as a hotline operator for a weight-loss centre. It's an interesting story told from the perspective of an immigrant. Available as an ebook and an eaudiobook on Libby and Hoopla and in print.
On September 29th, we will be discussing The Parcel by Anosh Irani. This story is about a transgender sex worker in the red-light district of Mumbai, India, who is given an unexpected task. Sure to be an enlightening and fascinating read. Available in print and as an ebook on Libby.
