Brooklyn (2015)
Irish immigrant Eilis emigrates to Brooklyn for a new life, later finds her true love, and is being forced to choose between her hometown and her new life in Brooklyn. Winner of BAFTA Award for Best British Film and was included on BBC's 100 Greatest Films of the 21st century.
Parasite (2019)
The film begins with the financially struggling Kim family scheming the wealthy Park family to hire them for the services and the story turns into unexpected and shocking twists. Winner of Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Film at the Academy Awards. Winner of Best Foreign Motion Picture - Foreign Language at the Golden Globe Awards.
Boyhood (2014)
Through the eyes of the young boy Mason and his family, the film portraits a story about his childhood and adolescence for 12 years in Texas. Winner of Best Motion Picture - Drama, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actress at Golden Globe Awards. Winner of Best Supporting Actress at Academy Awards. Winner of Best Director and Best Film at BAFTA Awards.
The films can be accessed on Kanopy, the Library streaming service, for free with your Coquitlam Public library card for Coquitlam residents.
