Would you agree music provides the soundtrack to our lives? How about the fact that our lives at home and at work are changing faster than ever because of artificial intelligence?  Host presenter, Keith McDonald, brings these two ponderables together in a two-part virtual event.

The CONCERTS for AI are his means to express the urgency and energy of artificial intelligence in a creative and fun way. There are both risks and possibilities where AI can either save us or kill us (and likely in between).  Keith riffs on this with humor, drama, and more - using original music, interviews, multimedia, and humor. This is, definitively, not another speaker lecture with a PowerPoint deck.
NOTE: These sessions are designed specifically for non-technical and non-practitioner audiences. Attendees will develop enhanced knowledge and awareness of the current impact/influence of artificial intelligence and where the future of AI and humanity is headed. Most significantly, what the participant can do to mitigate the direct and personal +/- impacts of AI right now.

Information about Keith: Keith is a long-time educator/communicator/presenter best known for his work as the first Open Data Lead with the City of Toronto from 2008 to 2016. His career history also includes stints with TVOntario, Centennial College, UNICEF, The Ontario Ministry of Education, the Scarborough Health Department, and, currently, the Director of Communications for the GO Open Data Association. For the past six years, Keith has been teaching about Artificial Intelligence, Social Media, Privacy, and Data literacy, He founded literacyAI - a mission-driven project - to research, curate, unpack, ponder and workshop these subjects to non-practitioner audiences. He is currently touring two different virtual series: "AI and the NEW abnormal" & "Building a Better HUMAN BEING with AI"

Part 1: Welcome to the Machine and the China Experience

This intros the scope for the sessions and outlines how a visit to China influenced the framework of Keith’s perception of the immediate need to educate around AI. Covers his research excursion to China, what is going on there, and what is happening here and around the world that mirrors China’s tech evolution/revolution.  Presents a few “food for thoughts” to be dealt with in the subsequent session such as AI and employment, privacy, data mining, and surveillance.
