An evening event for adults. This is a social hour and movie night celebrating 2SLGBTQIA+ people in recognition of May 17, International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.
An adults only movie night celebrating 2SLGBTQIA+ people. This event is part of the Coquitlam Public Library’s acknowledgment of May 17, the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT). Welcoming all 2SLGBTQIA+ adults and their allies, this evening is a socialization event with drinks and refreshments followed by a showing of the movie The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. The socialization hour will be held from 6:00-6:45PM, followed by the movie. This event is for adults ages 18 years old or older, registration is required and age will be verified. Teens 17 years or older accompanied by an adult are also welcome, but must show an ID for age verification.
The International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia was created in 2004 to draw the attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex people and all other people with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions, and sex characteristics. The date of May 17th was specifically chosen to commemorate the World Health Organization’s decision in 1990 to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder. Learn more at https://may17.org/
