Are you looking for a book club that meets online? Look no further than our Virtual Book Club! We meet monthly on the last Monday of each month (except for September) and we read some fabulous books.

We've got some great picks for the summer months!

On Monday, July 29th, we will be talking about Bel Canto by Ann Patchett. Taking place in South America, the country's vice president is hosting a birthday party for a powerful businessman. It is a perfect evening—until a band of gun-wielding terrorists takes the entire party hostage. Read how all the party attendees react and connect. Available as an ebook and eaudiobook on Hoopla, as an ebook on Libby, as a movie on Hoopla and in regular and large print.

On Monday, August 26th, we will be reading Half-Blood Blues by Esi Edugyan. This Giller Prize winning novel takes place in Berlin in 1939, where a trumpet player is arrested in a Paris cafe. He was a German citizen and he was Black. He was never heard from again. Fifty years later, Sid, the only witness to the arrest, still refuses to speak of what he saw. When his friend and fellow band members comes to visit, Sid begins a slow journey towards redemption. Available as an ebook on Hoopla and in regular and large print.

On Monday, September 23rd, in honour of National Truth and Reconciliation Day, our book club pick is Bad Cree by Jessica Johns. In this gripping debut tinged with supernatural horror, a young Cree woman's dreams lead her on a perilous journey of self-discovery that ultimately forces her to confront the toll of a legacy of violence on her family, her community and the land they call home. Available as an ebook and eaudiobook on Libby and Hoopla and in regular print.
