Fraser River Literary Festival

The Fraser River Literary Festival presents a cocktail reception and panel discussion at Evergreen Arts. Registration Required. For ages 16+

Grab a friend (or two!) and enjoy delicious food and drink while meeting new people from your community during a cocktail reception at Evergreen Arts.

A panel discussion will follow at 7:00 pm with local authors Janie Chang, Jonina Kirton, and Katrina Kwan. The panel is moderated by local comedian and author Ryan Murphy, with a question and answer period to follow. 

• Cocktail Reception: 5:00 - 7:00 pm
• Panel Discussion: 7:00 - 8:30 pm.

To purchase alcoholic drinks, you must be 19+ and present valid government issued photo ID.

Tickets are $20.00 and include access to the reception, food, one drink of your choice, and the panel discussion. Further drinks will be available for purchase at the event. Proceeds will go toward Coquitlam Public Library's programs and services.

If you are only interested in attending the panel discussion, registration is free but still required. Doors open at 6:45.

Janie Chang is a Globe and Mail bestselling author of historical fiction. Born in Taiwan, Chang has lived in the Philippines, Iran, Thailand, New Zealand, and Canada. Her novels often draw from family history and ancestral stories. She has a degree in computer science and is a graduate of the Writer’s Studio Program at Simon Fraser University. She is the author of Three Souls, Dragon Springs Road, The Library of Legends, and The Porcelain Moon; and co-author of the USA Today bestseller The Phoenix Crown, with Kate Quinn.

Jónína Kirton, is an Icelandic and Red River Métis poet currently lives in New Westminster BC, the stolen lands of the Hul’qumi’num speaking peoples. She graduated from the SFU Writers Studio in 2007 and was sixty-one when she received the 2016 Vancouver’s Mayor’s Arts Award for an Emerging Artist in the Literary Arts category. Her second collection of poetry, An Honest Woman, was a finalist in the 2018 Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize. A Talonbooks author her fourth book, Save Your Prayers – Send Money, was released April of 2026.

Katrina Kwan is a Canadian fantasy and contemporary romance author based in Vancouver. After graduating from Acadia University in 2017 with a BA in political science with honors, Kwan spent the next six years honing her creative skills as a freelance ghostwriter. With several ghostwritten romance novels under her belt, she's ecstatic to finally be writing books under her own name.
