Join us for our monthly virtual book club where we will talk about a specific book and our picks for that month!
On October 23rd, we will read Kindred by Octavia E. Butler. The book is the first-person account of a young African-American writer, Dana, who is repeatedly transported in time between her Los Angeles, California home in 1976 with her white husband and an early 19th-century Maryland plantation. It'll capture you from the first chapter. This book is available as an ebook and eaudiobook on Libby, as an eaudiobook on Hoopla and in regular print.
On December 11th, we will read What is Written on the Tongue by Anne Lazurko. Released from Nazi forced labor as World War II ends, 20-year-old Sam is quickly drafted and sent to the island of Java to help regain control of the colony. But the Indonesian independence movement is far ahead of the Dutch, and Sam is thrown into a guerilla war, his loyalties challenged when his squad commits atrocities reminiscent of those he suffered at the hands of the Nazis. This book is available as an ebook and as an eaudiobook on Hoopla.
